Hello Everyone,

October 2015

I love October, not just because it is my birthday month but because the air changes, the season changes, the time changes.

It is when we must embrace the fact that the time change will have us seeing the dark sooner. A time when the trees begin to let loose the leaves, orange, brown and yellow leaves flying about.

It is the time when the ghouls and horrors are seen in decorations, shows, movies and parties.

It is the time when we say farewell to the summer heat, smile toward the cooler weather and wonder of the winter to come.

Happy October! May there be light within you to shine upon the earlier darker hours. May the ghouls and gremlins that ring the door bell make you smile and partake in trick or treat.

May you embrace the change in season knowing... it will bring us back to Spring soon enough.

I have added a tab - Whisper my words, which is a link to my site where I post stories, poems, AndMore events and the Watcher's Journal. Take a peek and enjoy.

Enjoy!

My Little Book Review.....To Katie With Love by Erica Lucke Dean

How Erica Lucke Dean managed to get wit, mystery, romance, gut splitting laughter and toe curling moments into one book is beyond me. But... she managed it. Katie is fun loving and a character one is easy to relate to. Cooper Maxwell is just one mysterious surprise after another. I am sure most can relate to the co-workers she has and even to the overbearing aloof mother. Even when you think you know where the plot is going...there is a twist and a turn and you find you were wrong.

I loved this book, the characters the story and most of all the surprise ending. I hope to see more from this author and I hope to see it soon.  I most especially liked and appreciated how the characters are written and how they unfold where you get to know them and even laugh with them.

What's it all about?  Well I can't tell you all I can however tell you the basics.

Katie James is a woman with a reading problem.  The problem being that it is all she has and does in personal life.  By day she works at a bank and by night she is dreaming of the men in her books.  That is until her co-workers take her out for her birthday and there her life begins to change.

Oh but it's not the usual romance of being swept off your feet, oh no, not Katie.  Things are not that easy.

Add the mixture of a handsome client, nosy co-workers, nerve racking mother, margaritas, karaoke, guns and clumsiness to boot... you get Katie's life thereafter.

After spending a few months reading horror and paranormal books, this was not only a refreshing change but a respite for me during a very hectic, stressful and horrible week.  To Katie With Love became therapy, a way to escape and remember things like romance, fun, laughter, hope, mystery and good old fashion love.

Don't let the summer end without getting your copy of this book.  Here's how:

My Little Book Review... Essence (Battle for Blood) by Joseph DiBartolo

Product Details  definitely 5 stars for this one.  Any book that can leave me saying "WTF? I want more" is a 5 star book.

I enjoy the pearly vampire story, the romantic vampire story but Joseph DiBartolo brings you back to basics.  Refreshing.  Vampires are killers.  Period.

The plot intertwines and keeps you going from page one.

The vampires are rampant and not afraid to show it.  An elite group of vampire hunters are just as ready to fight back.  Throw in a father and son that can't get along.  Secrets and government interference.  A general public that has become a buffet and there's even room for a little romance.  Well, as much as romance has a chance while in the midst of a battle.

Don't get confused this isn't a love story.  WAR!  One side wants the blood the other wants the bloodsuckers dead.  Who will win?  The casualties along the way are brutal.

I got to the last page and was glad I was home alone.  The loud 'NO' would have been embarrassing in public.  I can't wait for the second installment of the series.

Cheaters...What shall we do with them?

Cheaters, they have a certain look that if you pay attention you can spot from a distance.  The look of a predator.

I'm going to use the H word.  I HATE cheaters.  I find them loathsome.  Let's break it down, ok?

Although I will use actual stories and statements, I will for obvious reasons not use real names, but I will make the names interesting....because I am special that way.

oh yeah she believes me im transparent - Cheating Cham

The Chameleon
Being single has it's wonderful moments, but it also has it's downfalls.  One being you are the constant target of cheaters.  If you are divorced, you are the Prime target of cheaters.

For years on a weekday basis I would run in to The Chameleon.  This guy would without prompting complain about his wife.  Sing the woe is me song whether you want to hear it or not.  After my attempts of 'I don't give it shit' answers failed, I had to be blunt.  I had to tell the Chameleon that no matter how many times his skin adjusts to the atmosphere, his cheating spots are clear.  If you are so unhappy LEAVE.  Cheating is never an option.  Also... your insults to me tells me even more of your lack of character.  You see, the moment you believed you would stand a chance to cheat with me, you insulted me.  My intelligence, my integrity and you insult my right to not be treated that way.

He got the hint and began singing to someone else.  Same song.

I was married to a cheater, I can tell you that the marriage could be just fine and a cheater will cheat.  You can provide all the sex you want and a cheater will cheat.  The greatest of cheaters don't even bother to deny it.

The Chameleon types are charmers.  They go for the sympathy all the while having alligator teeth.

The Cheetah
I was flat out shocked when I found myself getting a ride home and hearing someone give the woe is me song.  Not the 'she so bad she makes sing a sad song' song.  But the 'she's so great and sweet I can't hurt her' song.  The 'we just don't have sex, we are more like friends' song.  Pathetic!  For the ones singing it and the ones falling for it.  The Cheetah, went on and on.  I was silent, more concerned that I got home.  I kept fuming inside, what the hell made this jackass think I would have anything to do with a married person or let alone him, whether married or alone?  When I was in front of my place I felt comfortable letting him know my song 'there ain't no good reason for cheating' song.  The 'I hate cheaters and think they should suffer' song.  Cheetahs like their animal counterpart don't have long term mates, they find a female dry/wet hump her and move on.  These are the worst of the cheaters.  They believe they have a right to cheat and they usually have the worst opinion of women.  Loathsome creatures.

The retired cheaters are just sickening.  They are usually divorced and usually because of their cheating ways.  They look at women like steak and assume that their having an interest is all it takes.  Even though they may be single, their cheating heart remains.  Nothing about them is real.  Except maybe controlling and manipulating someone else.  They have the traits of the Elephant Seal.  The Elephant Seal has a hard time with no, unless you are outright rude, their ego doesn't understand rejection.

Oh the list could go on.  But that is not the point, the point is in the act.

Why do I hate cheaters?  Because they rank with liars and thieves.

A cheater must lie.  Either to the person they are cheating with, the spouse or both.
A cheater steals the trust of their spouse.  The trust of the one they are cheating on.  If they have kids, the trust of their children.

Yep, liars and thieves.  A married couple share bank accounts.  Every time a cheater pays for their time out with someone else, they steal the family money.  They lie to cover it.

They risk their spouses well being with the potential of STD or a crazy person that could turn on them out of lust or obsession.

But what I hate about cheaters is the fact that when they try to cheat they insult the person they are aiming for.  They set their eyes on someone and pretty much decided that the person is stupid enough to fall for the lies.  They insult people merely by assuming they can have them.

I had a rough debate with someone over a politician that cheated.  She believed that it shouldn't matter what they do in their personal lives.  I disagree, if they can do that to a person they know and supposedly love... imagine the dangers and deception they would do to strangers, called the people.  It matters.  It's lying, cheating, stealing and destruction of their spouses, trust and self esteem.

Cheaters...What shall we do with them?  Since I haven't the answer, I basically avoid them at all cost.

Inspiration me....Getting to know you, getting to know all about you

Inspiration me....Getting to know you, getting to know all about you.

As one of the lyrics to that song goes:
Getting to know you,
Getting to know all about you.
Getting to like you,
Getting to hope you like me.

But do you really know anyone?  I have known people that after many years were nothing that they portrayed themselves to be.  I have family that I still can't figure out.

I used to say that when you date, you don't really meet the person you are on a date with, you are meeting their representative.  The person they choose to be in the hopes you will like them and they will sell that persona throughout that date.  It isn't until time and many layers later you find out that they were misrepresented.

I used to think that you could know a good friend, trust them and maybe even be their representative if need be.  But, I don't think people are singing the song.  I don't think we are getting to know you, in the hopes that you are getting to know us.

As Shrek in the animation tried to tell Donkey when he had stated:  Ogres are like onions... Onions have layers... Ogres have layers.

Well, people have layers too.  Recently I had a conversation with someone that had no layers, he has reached a point in his life where there is no tolerance for misunderstanding.  He is quite sure of himself and feels that people should accept him as is.  He is not representing himself as a newly manufactured car.  He is AS IS and with no warranty, dings and all.  I have to admire that.  The person you meet the first day is him, you will see the same person each time thereafter.

Shouldn't we all be as confident?

In the last 5 years I have learned several things that I must remember to remember

  • It is the exception to meet someone that is real, not the rule
  • Even your closest friend can be a stranger
  • Love blinds your heart, instinct and senses
  • Show me who you hang out with and I will tell you who you are. (That really is how it works)
  • Some people have too many layers and it is best to just walk away while you still have the energy
  • Getting to know someone means hoping you at least get to know a real part of them
  • Getting to know all about someone is a myth.  We are ever changing creatures.
  • Nothing about this inspires me, save for one thing, the goal not to be that way

Book review - Full Moon Island by Terry Yates

This review was originally written in Amazon.com where I purchased the ebook.  4.0 out of 5 stars

FULL MOON ISLAND

I originally was going to give this book 3 stars, but it got the 4th for being so intriguing that it kept me up all night so I could finish it.

The author made sure to write this book in a manner where you understand each POV. Even the animals. Without giving any spoilers I will give the pros and cons
PROS
Fast paced
Interesting characters, you find yourself rooting even for the jerks.
Just when you think inexplicable and unbelievable things are happening, some explanation is given, some.
Plot unfolds to multiple plots which include, paranormal, government conspiracy and character development.
Enough size of a book to get a good read and not feel like it's taking too long
Great price, I got this for $0.99 on Amazon, Kindle purchase.
The story reaches the lives from elderly to infant, giving you many heart stopping moments.
CONS
I'm no grammar police but there were plenty errors that couldn't be ignored, especially when you were getting to a real good part.
Considering the title of the book, the one thing that is left unexplained is the most unbelievable, the multiple moon nights. This however may be resolved later in another book.
The main POV isn't given the intelligence a Dr. may have, like common sense.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book with the last CONS item being the one that bothered me the most, but that makes a good read too. Emotions rolling.
